U.S. military anchors floating pier to Gaza, set to begin aid effort

The U.S. military on Thursday anchored a floating pier to the shore of the Gaza Strip, officials said, preparing to begin aid deliveries to the war-ravaged Palestinian enclave in an operation directed by President Biden to help alleviate the humanitarian crisis there — but whose critics fear it will leave American troops vulnerable to attack.
